Instrumental and phonetic music.

My name is Roger Subirana Mata. I was born the 22th of March in 1978 in Vilafranca del Penedès (Barcelona), where I live. I am a self-taught and have no academic music knowledge, except for a very basic music education at the school. I started composing music at twelve, but it was not until I was fourteen when I started to record my ideas with a very simple keyboard. Then, I started to discover the huge possibilities that new technologies offered to me.
I progressively improved my instruments and recording tools until I achieved to build a small recording studio.

Creating music is my way of life. I need to create music to express my feelings. From the simplest ones to the most grandiloquent ones. To be able to cry or get happy through it. For this reason, independently of whether I am successful or not as a professional musician, I will go on making music since I need it. Mine is not a commercial music type, it is not intended to please a big consuming mass. It is a very personal music, but if it can please anyone, then, much better. When I hear songs from my favourite musicians, I feel excited and pssessed by a new and majestic feeling which multiplies my feelings. My dream has always been to really communicate my soul to the person who listens to my music.

Although I have performed some live concerts, I consider myself to be a composer rather than a performer. On the other hand, my music is difficult to play live since it would require a huge budget and a large amount of musicians.
Having several and diverse influences is the reason for which my music cannot be classified into a specific style.I have composed a variety of things… Radio and TV themes, music for contemporary dance, jazz, pop-rock, progressive rock, dance, techno, classical, celtic, new age, etc.

If I had to define my style I would say it consists of little soundtracks where in some cases the voice is used as another instrument. For this reason, the lyrics are ‘fonetic’ ones without any meaning. I myself define it as an instrumental and fonetic music concept.
That’s one of my features. The invented fonetic lyrics. “Doshmy larayon” or “Kverna” are examples of it that you can find in the section “Escucha mi música”.
