My hand-made double flute

I've always had a fascination for double flutes since I saw "The Dark
Crystal" which is my favourite movie of al times... in fact I have the
collectors edition and old simple edition in DVD but does anyone know
if the 25th anniversary has any new thing inside... anyway I would not
mind to grab it

The Dark Crystal (25th Anniversary Edition)

the
case is that Jen at the beginning of the movie and in Kira's theme
(yes, my dog Kira was names after the movie) has a double flute, in the
soundtrack it was performed by a double flageolette and yes it's not
possible with a drone flute to do what jen's does, but still I was
absolutely in love with the looks of a double flute, curiously I'm
meeting the designer of the movie, illustrator Brian Froud, this summer
as he'll host one concert of mine and some other bands at the festival faerieworlds
where I'll perform along with bands like Woodland, Qntal, Trillian
Green and others... So it was the moment to make a double flute, if not
similar to get the mood.

so
I joined two whistles, cut a wood piece and joined them together with
putty, and then I sculpted some tree branches and staff... needs still
some customization Smiling but sounds nice (and double), all the double
flutes I had found online were lovely but only drone-line (one note) or
made of not with the right look. I'm quite satisfied with my little
crafty attempt.

here are some pics (will add some bronze accent and beads soon)

PRISCILLA HERNANDEZ – ‘Ancient Shadows’ (yidneth)
Genre – Heavenly Voices

Nineteen tracks of beautiful ethereal music with a
very powerful heavenly voices vocal that is highly reminiscent of Sarah
Brightman in her more popular albums (as opposed to her more classical
pieces). The album is subtitled ‘The Ghost and the Fairy’ and has the
two threads intertwining throughout the CD, with each element having
its own booklet. Priscilla is obviously making a well deserved name for
herself amongst the Fairy community, though her music will greatly
appeal to goths with a love of ethereal music too, as the music and
singing are incredibly evocative with images of fairy castles, dark
woods and angelic hosts throughout. This is more LOTR than LOTR was!
But there is amongst the fairy feyness a darker edge reflected by the
Ghost passages which touch on darker folky images – and anyone
interested in proper folk music and not the jokey nonny nonny stuff
will know that European folk music has some very dark places within it!
This is a CD that will appeal to everyone who likes neo-classical /
ethereal music and comes beautifully packaged with gorgeous
illustrations from Priscilla herself. - Mike

CRAWLING TUNES, a german magazine specialized in
gothic music has published a two pages/interview article with tons of
pictures. Worth to buy it, they really did very well Smiling . The issue
also comes with two cds of quiet gothic music. (language: german)
here's me with the magazine and click on the cover to purchase it!

looks creepy huh? XD, the publication is devoted to music in gothic
that is not metal but quieter and more introspective. The article looks
great by the way (thanks Tyves!). A pdf scan will come soon.

JUDAS KISS ONLINE MAGAZINE REVIEW

Priscilla Hernandez – “Ancient Shadows” – CD (Yidneth Productions)

Written by Renee Johnson

Absolutely breathtaking.

Ancient
Shadows is the debut album for Spanish ethereal/goth singer-songwriter
and fantasy illustrator, Priscilla Hernandez. Refusing offers from
several major labels, Hernandez has released the album on her own
label, Yidneth.

Your
iTunes application will claim that the album belongs to the “New Age”
category, simply because anything that defies classification tends to
be labeled that way. This is music for fans of everything from trip-hop
acts like Hungry Lucy, New Age acts like Enigma, goth acts like Dead
Can Dance and sirens like Sarah Brightman and Loreena McKennitt.
There’s something here for everyone that can appreciate the beauty and
grace of the female voice. Hernandez has incredible range and ability
to evoke a dreamy and soothing state of mind with themes of love, loss,
longing and magic both in our world and in those that lie just beyond
ours.

If
for nothing else, the album is well worth purchasing for the artwork.
Hernandez is a talented artist whose favorite subjects are fairies,
ghosts and angels. The pages of the digipak are full of illustrations
for the chilling and sorrowful stories she’s telling with her music.
It’s a perfect blend of talents, creating a fairytale world in which
her characters come to life. With lyrics in both Spanish and English
and stories behind each track, the booklet is as delightful as the
album.

In
most reviews, I’ll pick highlights from the album that will resonate
with the largest number of listeners, but after several listens, I’m
having a hard time doing that, frankly. Out of 19 tracks, I think there
might be all of 4 that aren’t immediately standouts. My personal
favorites are, “Away,” “The Call of the Nymph,” “The Realms of Twilight,” “Lament,” and the all too short instrumental, “Fairytale”
