Impressions from the l "Three faery wishes fest"... we talk to its lovely host: Karen Kay
This is the first time the "Three faery wishes fest" is celebrated in en mystic England. The past year took place also the first "The Faery ball" that will be repeated next 26th October in The Acorn, Penzance (Cornwall). As an attendant and as an artist and performed invited to the festiva... how could I explain the magic that was floating in the air? Not even the bad weather could do really do nothing against the warmth of all those people gathered and joined by the love for fantasy and for fairies. The wonderful place itself invited everyone to a new encounter with all those invisible creatures we believe in when we are children. Aside from myself (Priscilla Hernandez) people could enjoy a wealth of performances highlighting Daughters of Gaia, Mediaeval babes, Soul Path, butterfly thunder, Circulus, Beck sian and many others as well as visual artists like Myrea Pettit and Chris Down and the supporting presence of media devoted to the fairy art like Fairies World and Fae Nation. With such atmosphere and even if the weather was a bit rainy, the fireworks, the fire fairies and all the different performers made their best to create bonds and the deep longing to repeat the experience next year. The dates for upcoming 2007 have been already confirmed for the 20th-22th of June. Are you going to miss it?
Once over and already missing everyone I wanted to make a few questions about the festival to Karen Kay, proud host of the festival, fairy herself and gifted owner of an angelical voice. Karen is well known as a member of the band Daughters of Gaia and has also published several new age and albums for meditation. Her debut solo album "Golden light" was released last 2005.
Priscilla Hernandez: You're the soul behind the idea of the festival... When did you make the decision to make it and how long did it take to get shape?
Karen Kay: The idea for the 3 Wishes Faery Fest has been with me for a very long time. It has always been a dream of mine to hold a festival at midsummer, the time fo the faeries! It was the faeries themselves who have guided me and inpisred me to create this magical fae event in Celtic Cornwall.
How is your impression about the overall act? Tell us a bit about the highlights.
Karen Kay: For me, the highlights were many special moments during the 3 days, including the beautiful rainbow at the very end of the festival, it was like a faery blessing. The music over all three days was perfect, and every band and performer brought a unique and magical feeling to the proceedings. The walkabout performers also helped to create a living fairyland atmosphere, with Twinkel, Felicity Fairy and Muddlehead Pixie!.
Priscilla Hernandez: Do you intend to make a new three faery wishes fest next year. What things will you intend to do?
Karen Kay:Yes! the dates for next years Faery Fest are Friday 20th, Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd June 2008. I can not release any details yet as it is too soon after the first event, but I can tell you it will be more magical than ever!
Priscilla Hernandez: You belong to the band "daughters of Gaia", could you speak a little about the band members and also your solo works The Daughters of Gaia is a great fun band that I really enjoy singing with. we have so much fun and dress up, and sing out our hearts! the music is about celebrating the wise within us all, and standing in our power. My solo music is softer and represents the "inner me" there is a very soft and gentle side to me that only really gets seen in my solo music.
Priscilla Hernandez: certainly, and thus your solo works are listed now in Nuevas Músicas where you are very welcomed!. We hope you keep us informed about any new about the events and your own music. Faery blessings!
