Interviewing SLEEPWALKER
I had the chance to meet this talented composer from Bulgary when he visited Spain late 2006. Sleepwalker or if you prefer Lyubomir Yordanov started to work on the Sleepwalker project back in 2000 Yordanov started to work on the Sleepwalker project back in 2000 and keeps on progressing with his dream of archieving what any professional dreams of, living for and from his music. No doubt this man is taking the issue seriuosly and has gathered strength not also to dare with his own music but creating an independent label with braveness, as I share that experience and I know how hard it is, I wish him from here all the encouragement he might need as a friend, and we wanted to take this opportunity to make the visitors of this site to know a little bit more about the exotic music of....
Priscilla Hernandez: Tell us a little bit about yourself and your musical background

Sleepwalker: Well, to begin with I am an ordinary man, like all of you. I have own life, enriched with all kind of emotions and doings. The life looks quite simple and complex in the same time, but I think I find myself on the right path – to live and work with music. Most of the time, I am working over my stuff or any client’s ones in my studio – AMA Sound (online studio for mixing and mastering music)(www.ama-sound.com), which I officially opened 1.5 year ago. I have solid musical background, which comes out from long studying here in Bulgaria. I have a bachelor degree in music – New Bulgarian University, by subject "Computer Systems & Technology in the branch of Music" and I have a master degree in the same university, by subject “Sound-engineer”. In the music scene I am known with the pseudonym Sleepwalker and I am composing generally in the New Age/World genre, but I have great appetites for film music and symphonic soundtracks. Since 2003 I have officially released 2 solo albums and a Single. Since 2005 I am official member of ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors & Publishers). My basic instrument is Native American flute.
Priscilla Hernandez: Which is the concept behind Amenti. What's the most important difference with your previous works?
Sleepwalker: Amenti is my last official release, which is a 2 year of hard working album. The music inside is a tender blend of low and high acoustic guitar lines with a soaring wordless vocals moving in and out of the background, noble tones of Native American flutes and innovative combo of bongos, djembe, doumbek and timbal fits nicely in the New Age, World & Ethnic genres. The main conception for the album comes out from the story about “Halls of Amenti”, place which exist only in the world of Atlantis. This actually is a continuation of my previous album “Flower Of Life”, because it is said that “Flower Of Life” is decorated in the “Halls of Amenti”. The difference with my past works is huge, as I had 2 years to do my compositions, to find the proper musicians and instruments that I wanted to blend with my music. More than 60% of the music inside was recorded with real instruments, but not samples. I wanted to replace as much as I could with real instruments, which inquired a lot of time and organization. As the height of perfection the album is mastered by the Grammy award-winning engineer Bob Katz, Digital Domain Studio, USA.
Priscilla Hernandez: You've created a label on your own to release this album and are also involved in several collaborations with other companies... What's your opinion about self-releasing? Which are your projects as a label?
Sleepwalker: After a long tumble in the dark, I decided to create an own label to release not only my music, but others also. I get to this decision quite slowly but surely. The world out there is full of people that want only to exploit musicians. Thinking of this I realize how many years I lost for searching the right people and wasted my time, instead of composing new music. So I am here on the hardest way, but for sure my goal is to help others to do not misspend their time and to get to the right way without empty promises. My label is called AMAdea Records, based in East Europe and it’s target is to distribute independent musicians, offering quite promising opportunities – we do also full producing on our own expenses. I have satellite partners in USA, that also manufacture and distribute our releases. We get expanded fast and I am sure soon enough we shall have success. Besides my own album, we have signed Amethyste and Tigerforest artists with a huge potential.
Priscilla Hernandez: Pick us a favourite track from the album
Sleepwalker: My favourite track from the album is “Invisible Cloister”. Perhaps it is no chance that it occupied the #1 place in the World chart of the prestigious website GarageBand.com, earning 5/5 stars over more than 110 reviews.
Priscilla Hernandez: Send a greeting for NM
Sleepwalker: I wish all the best to NM’s crew. The forum is great and there are very nice people around that can collaborate, talk and even meet just because this place existed. Thank you for your time and this interview.
